Burt is a native of Louisiana, where he obtained his bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering in 1987 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He returned to Louisiana in January 2011 with 23 years of experience in the manufacturing environment, working with the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA, and moving on to the electronics industry in Sugar Land, TX.
Burt progressed from industry engineer to various senior manufacturing management positions throughout his career managing more than 150 production and warehouse associates. He drove supply chain initiatives such as supplier managed inventory, inventory turns improvement, lead time reductions, delivery performance, supplier contracts, and cost reductions. Burt was also a key member in the startup of Rtron, an electronic contract manufacturing company with revenues of $72 million by year five.
Burt is an avid outdoorsman, having developed a strong passion for the outdoors when his father introduced him to hunting and fishing at the age of 10. He is a conservationist and has a love for the land. He is determined to bring his background and experience to restoring and preserving the wetlands and the environment.
